Alphabet Merge Challenge is a merge puzzle stacked on top of an arena auto-battler. You drag identical letter tiles together to upgrade them into higher-tier letters, and the tiles you keep alive on the board are the ones fighting for you against waves of monster opponents. Merges scale damage exponentially, so a single A-into-B chain late in a fight can flip a losing wave.
How to play
The arena handles combat on its own — your job is the board. You click and drag tiles to combine matching letters into the next rank, and you decide which slots to leave open for fresh tiles spawning between waves. Higher letters do more damage but take longer to build, so you are constantly trading short-term firepower for long-term scaling. The Rainbow Monster Master fights at the end of a run, and beating it generally requires at least one tile pushed deep into the alphabet.
Controls
- Mouse: click and drag a letter tile onto an identical one to merge. Click empty slots to position spawned tiles.
Tips & tricks
- Pre-stage two of each letter before merging — three of a kind in a corner lets you cascade two upgrades in one move.
- Keep one low-tier slot open for spawns. A full board kills your spawn rate, and you stall out fast.
- Push one tile as high as you can rather than spreading merges evenly. Damage scales harder than spread.
- Save your highest tile for the boss wave. Premature merges into mid-tier mobs waste your scaling.
What makes it good
We picked it because the merge layer has actual stakes — your placement is what loses or wins the auto-battle below, instead of being decorative. That coupling is rare in browser merge games.
